okay.
So now you know what I look like and what I do when I'm not drawing, inking, coloring, whatever I may be doing in my professional life.
And... Well, you have no idea how difficult it was for me to overcome my shyness and show this photo. So... yeah, if I happen around the place you live for some event or con, now you know what I look like and if you have read anything drawn by me you can actually talk to me. Well, so, I guess see you around?

It's cool that you practice with recurve bows.  I was trying to do that for a while too.  I was trying to do everything with basic equipment, without sights, etc. I never got very good.... I haven't shot arrows in like 2 years.... It was really fun though.

I tried shooting in the naked bow style (no sight, balancers or clicker), it's just not my thing :)

I'm not sure it's my thing either...  Someone told us it would help us learn but I'm not so sure.

Help you learn? I don't know... I mean, it's the first method I learned myself, and I find it easier to aim for now, because all I have to do is to look at the arrow point and make it match the yellow of the target but... eh, I feel silly holding the string three fingers below the arrow. Besides, it's a method that tends to stress one of the bow's limbs more than the other, and I'm not sure that's very good...
maybe they're right, and maybe that's why we were taught naked bow first...

I have pretty cheap beginner equipment so I'm not that worried about putting extra stress on one limb.  It's a puny bow anyway (I think it was 35 or 40 lbs).  My friends actually use a different grip with one finger above the arrow. I found it awkward and used the grip you described.  Although I guess some people use Mongolian style grip, pinching with the thumb. Sounds crazy to me.  We took a couple of lessons but the teacher was kind of a drunk old man.  Not sure he really knew what he was talking about.  I found stuff on the internet to be more informative.   Maybe talking about it is good. It kind of motivates me to try again although it's too damn hot in Arizona summer.

Oh you have one of those wooden bows for beginners, right? I've been learning how to shoot with them. They're good for practice, and if you can aim true with those, with one like mine you become quite precise.
Does your friend grip the string like I do? But without the use of a sight? Must be tough to align arrow and target. I tried once but gripping below the arrow feels more natural with a naked bow shooting. I only know these two ways of gripping the string. Not sure what the mongolian one is like. Would you like to teach me? I'm quite curious.
And yeah, I heard about Arizona summer. Here it's quite hot and damp, but I heard your temperatures can be much higher...
I have the luck that my region has quite a tradition in archery: the golden medal in the last Olympics was from my same city, and our team often wins the regional tournaments in Italy. I'm very happy with my teacher. He's quite chatty, but taught us well and most important made us all love the sport.

It's actually not a wooden bow, although I really wanted one. They are rather expensive.  Mine is a pretty cheap composite recurve hunting bow.  I think it is actually made by an Italian company actually (Jaguar?).

I don't really know anything about Mongolian style archery, it's just something I saw online in some instructional videos: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX8UQEmXB7s

Oh? That's strange. Wherever I look for a basic school practice bow in the 'net I find kits that include everything one needs (riser, limbs, string, arrows, quiver, etc.) for around €150, and those bows are made of wood. Compare with my bow where the riser alone costs that much... and they're good bows even!

E... ahem, ciao a te =P

No money.
