The Warhammer 40,000 comic issue 5 (first issue of the Revelations arc) is ut in stores!
www.comixology.com/Warhammer-4… go get it!
In the meantime, here's some pages with my pencils and inks!

It was great being able to design a female terminator armor. I think it's the first ever in Games Workshop's history :)

Badass is just the word. Nice armor design, and I really like the overall techno-Gothic mood with cybernetic penitents and censers spewing incense smoke.

Personally I love this piece of artwork, it really screams WARHAMMER!

Also to everyone niggling over the size of the head, just think that her arms are in the torso and she is manipulating robotic arms via a neural interface... or something: in all honesty it is likely safer for her as her arms are unlikely to get chopped off :p

Yeah, that's exactly what I tell myself in order to sleep serenely and not being nagged by the thought of anatomy :)
It doesn't make sense to worry about it when you draw Warhammer. It's only a hindrance. It's not anatomy but mecha design. That way I found out the result is better.

i don't mind the head but the arm and shoulders don't work with her proportions. it'd make sense if her arms were just folded in the torso armour and the arms were robotic.

Heh, it's Warhammer. Games Workshop requires this type of proportions. No point in arguing, and if you knew how tortuous the process of this armour design was... :)

i'm not arguing. just think it was an opportunity to create something that makes sense. you don't have to stick to exact GW design.

That's where you're wrong, I'm sorry. If I try to not stick to exact GW design, GW will tell me to correct my design and stick to theirs.

That's the one thing that genuinely gets under my skin about GW. It would literally not hurt anyone if human-class power armor/terminator armor was in proper proportions.

But then again it wouldn't hurt them to have ALOT of changes to the lore either so what can you do?

I'm with ya on that. But I guess there are fans with nothing better to do in their life than bitch about canon and lore, so... I guess they're also big buyers of GW products. And between you and me, people like that are the death of creativity for an artist, because you always have to stick to something that becomes akin to dogma. Woe to those who will introduce anything new.

I think the root problem has less to do with fans and more to do with (mind you, just a humble guess) brand identity. GW has a bad habit of picking the strangest hills to hold out on.

The fans are a monster all on their own; they'll argue when you do something wrong, they'll argue when you do something right. They just love to argue and complain lol.

Why would people freak out over this?  She's clearly an Inquisitor.  At this point there's literally nothing stopping Inquisitors from wearing Terminator armor, former Space Marine status be damned.  :/  The Emperor couldn't genetically modify female *space marines* because the template of the gene seed required for the surgeries to be successful was male and the final surgery was needed to fully utilize the capabilities of the power armor, hence why anyone in it that isn't a space marine is S3 and T3.  I can see being tired of the debate on; where are all the female Imperium infantry models?  Short answer: the kits are all old as dirt and need to be recast anyway, so why complain about it now?  Also women in full kit look almost exactly the same as men save for facial features.  But arguing against female inquisitors in Terminator armor is a losing battle, even within the mechanics of the game.  There is female power and artificer armor.  There can clearly be female terminator armor.

Fluff rant aside:  Awesome picture.  I'd love to paint a miniature of her.

In answer to your first question, because they can :)
Well there are inquisitors in power armour already so why not. But it's the first time we see a female inquisitor in terminator armour in an official GW licensed product, so hurray us :)
I hope they cast a miniature of her, actually. Or it could be converted, maybe. I took parts that already exist like the tartarus shoulder pad but the rest is my design, so maybe it could be tricky but who knows?

I'd definitely buy the mini if they made on of her.  Conversion could be tricky but mostly expensive since GW minis have gone nuts in price.  I had to put my Khorne Daemonkin army on hold for a bit because of prices and the ridiculousness with how they're handling army rules at the moment.  Sadly it's become the hobby of the rich.

I almost hope they do, though I don't expect recognition to be made or credits to me to be included. They're not like Zombicide where they released guest artist packs. They'll just say it's GW.
And that's exactly why I stopped buying them: I did that after they started releasing everything in plastic instead of metal. Man, that was before the introduction of the Euro, I reckon... because I have no idea what the current prices are, but I have no difficulty in thinking they're high. It's not like they sell in the local gaming shop, they have their own shop but I'd rather not cross that doorstep. Entering a GW shop kinda feels like entering a Scientology church.

The sisters tend to get shafted royalty when it comes to media. I don't play warhammer outside of video games, but a buddy of mine does, and a recurring gag is when its time for a codex update they'll update Khorne demons again. Heck they still have pewter models and only pewter models from what I'm told.

There's that, though that still not an excuse for not updating them. Hell its like warhammer media, technically it's still a niche thing not may people in the main stream know about, but they make new books and games for it.

Favorite army? ... herm probably Space Marines or Orks. My buddy has his own chapter And I'm the master of the forge l, and orks are just hilarious.

Agreed. They sure know how to have fun (and possibly are the only species who does).
Niche? Hmmm. I think it's a pretty huge franchise, though mostly due to videogames. The boardgame... well there are huge tournaments, a dedicated shop chain... so I don't know if it qualifies as niche...

Mm I'd say it's popular enough for all that stuff but at the same time it's still not something you see in the mainstream. It's kinda like anime people know about it, it's popular but only a select set know about it and can give you details.

Oh. I wouldn't know. I mean, I'm not even a Warhammer fan (I used to be when I was younger, now it's just cool to me). But I surely don't like the sororitas design too much. Look more like corsets than power armour, so I steered well away from any possible sororitas influence while designing Sabbathiel's armour :)

Yea, the issue is that the people who make the calls for Warhammer have a severe tendency of not taking them seriously, and their image is really dated. I think they have been rocking power corsets since the 80s. Basically every single other faction has seen more visual updates than them.

They are the faction that cries out the most for a bit of new artistic touch to make them live again. I suspect they have been deemed as not worth the effort.
